Kate Murtagh Sheridan
Visual Artist, Ceramicist, Educator
Kate Murtagh Sheridan is a freelance visual artist and art educator living in Co. Leitrim. She specialises in ceramics, plasterwork and painting. Kate has a deep interest in Irish history culture and folklore and incorporates this where she can in all areas of her art and teaching practice. She is attracted to the hidden details that might go unnoticed.
Kate creates vibrant, highly-detailed pictures that are meticulously etched into plaster plaques using the sgraffito technique, layering colours and paring them back to reveal tiny details that would otherwise lie undiscovered. Crisp etchings of almost photo-realistic quality set into a dream-like atmosphere give these pieces a unique charm.
